Museums, heritage attractions and other groups have been battling to come to terms with the ramifications of the Covid-19 pandemic and many have launched very successful campaigns to raise much needed funds to help them survive in such uncertain times. If this was not enough some organisations have had even more challenges to overcome!
On the evening of Tuesday 11th and in the early hours of Wednesday 12th August, much of Scotland was battered by severe thunderstorms. During a subsequent inspection of the Bo’ness Kinneil Railway, the Scottish Railway Preservation Society Civil Engineer identified multiple landslips along approximately a mile-long stretch of the railway. The line was declared unfit for traffic and the railway closed to all trains.
The worst of the landslips has occurred on a steep embankment near ‘High Bridge’. A geo-structural engineer has inspected the site and the railway has estimated that this damage may cost £100,000 to repair.
The significant damage to the line could not have come at worse time: a limited reopening of the Bo’ness Kinneil Railway was planned in mid-September, after a lengthy closure due to the Coronavirus pandemic that has it’s income at a record low.

In 2017, the British Motor Museum became part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio. The four-year programme funded by Arts Council will help widen the Museum’s audience through a range of activities working with communities and groups locally and regionally.
A key part of the programme will be the development and creation of innovative exhibition content at the British Motor Museum. This new Exhibitions Officer post will be an exciting opportunity to assist the Museum team in delivering a range of exhibition and audience content including, in particular, a new exhibition ‘The Car. The Future. Me’, due to open in June 2019.
The Museum is looking for an experienced museum professional who has worked on exhibition development and delivery. The role will include assisting in planning, procurement and project management as well as working with colleagues across the organisation, external partners and community groups to successfully deliver the exhibition.

The Haynes International Motor Museum are offering a 1953 Bristol KSW6B Lowbridge bus for disposal through sale by tender:
First introduced in 1950 the KSW was developed from the ‘K’ chassis, with the other letters representing ‘S’ for short and ‘W’ for wide, to meet the newly permitted dimensions of 27′ x 8′. Its design incorporated a sunken aisle to one side of the upper deck in order to reduce its overall height, thus giving it the ‘Lowbridge’ name. Bristol and Gardner engines were available and classified as KSW6B and KSW6G respectively. Production commenced in 1950 and continued until 1957 by which time the revolutionary Bristol Lodekka made the design obsolete. This example was purchased new by Southern National and operated by them throughout its life. Only tenders from museums or relevant heritage groups will be considered.

The leading independent museum for trolleybuses is seeking to replace their Museum Mentor who is due to retire from this role in late May 2017. The Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft holds the largest collection of historic trolleybuses in the world and has been Registered and subsequently Accredited for many years. It is run entirely by enthusiastic volunteers, but also occasionally uses outside contractors, when necessary.
An operational Museum, rather than ‘glass case’ style, it attracts a number of unique challenges. Established in 1969, the Museum has been successfully expanding at a steady rate, but is now in the midst of a substantial development and expansion programme.
The Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft is well connected within the transport community and has several associations to other related Museums and organisations. The museum is based in North Lincolnshire, close to the M180 and just 10 miles from Doncaster
