Learning and Engagement Vacancy at Haynes International Motor Museum

News of a job vacancy for the role of Learning & Engagement Officer at Haynes International Motor Museum in Sparkford, Somerset. As one of the leading museums and visitor attractions in the South West, with over 135,000 visitors annually, the successful candidate will be joining a dynamic and engaged team of over 120 staff and volunteers.

The role will be responsible for:

  • Formal learning and schools programme for all key stages with a variety of education and interest groups
  • Co-ordination of outreach programmes and events such as classic car shows and industry events
  • Active management, development and delivery of planned and programmed visitor events and activities such as Discovery, Get Closer, half-term and holiday trails
  • Research and delivery of talks and tours both on site and beyond the museum gates.

The Museum is looking for an innovative, enthusiastic and motivated learning professional to lead, develop and drive this work stream. The successful candidate must be proactive and keen to work in our fast paced and flexible work environment in this hands-on, varied operational role.

Free Event Focussing on Participation and Engagement in Museums

The British Motor Museum is organising a free event on Wednesday 7 March, titled ‘The Open Road’: Resilience, Participation and Engagement: learning and sharing good practice’.
The event is a day giving people the chance to see how the Museum has benefited from Arts Council Museum Resilience funding and  what it has achieved since 2015.
Beginning with a keynote from Wendy Parry, the Museum’s Relationship Manager at Arts Council England, presentations will include sessions on the introduction and use of costumed interpreters in a museum setting, community engagement activities and lessons learned from the Museum’s lifelong and formal learning programmes as well as how the visitor experience has been enhanced.
Participants will also have the chance to see the Museum and its award-winning displays.
Travel bursaries of up to £100 are available and lunch is provided!
