Two deadlines for awards promoted by the European Museum Academy are fast approaching! It is only 4 weeks until the deadline for the Children in Museums Award, and 8 weeks until the deadline for the European Museum Academy Awards.
Of most interest to ABTEM members might well be the Luigi Micheletti Award, (deadline 15 March) a prize focused on contemporary history and scientific, industrial and social heritage. Originally the award was established by the Micheletti Foundation and Kenneth Hudson in 1996, for the recognition of excellence in the specific sector of European science and industry museums.
Applications are welcomed from scientific, technical and industrial museums and science centres, both long-established and recently opened.

Heritage in Motion is an annual multimedia competition for the creators of films, games, apps and websites on themes related to Europe’s heritage, cultural and natural, tangible and intangible. Heritage in Motion grants awards and celebrates the best multimedia achievements and products,through varied, creative and innovative means, in order to draw attention to the value of Europe’s cultural and natural heritage in all its facets.

The Children in Museums Award has been established by the European Museum Academy and Hands On! International Association of Children in Museums to recognise internationally excellence and innovation in exhibits designed for children within the museum sector. Applications are welcomed from children’s museums and from learning departments in museums and science museums, both long-established and recently opened.
The Jury is looking especially for the creative use of exhibitions and programmes with an innovative interpretative approach, which should be meaningful to the relevant age-group. The Jury will expect proof and examples of your innovative approach and aesthetic qualities,, open-ended learning programme, excellence that can be acknowledged by children.
The closing date for entries is 1 February 2015.
