ABTEM SEMINAR AND AGM ANNOUNCED

Following on from two successful and sold out seminars launching ABTEM’s ‘Guidelines for the Care of Larger & Working Historic Objects’ this event provides an opportunity to hear more about the new document and hear case studies illustrating the issues faced by those conserving and operating and industrial transport collections.

Speakers include Paul & Joyce Jefford, case study contributors to the Guidelines, Christopher Binks from the National Railway Museum and Efstathios Tsolis who as part of the International Railway Heritage Consultancy helped compile the new document.

The event is hosted by the London Museum of Water and Steam and so there will also be case studies from John Porter (LMWS) and Peter Turvey (Kennet & Avon Canal Trust highlighting the issues most relevant to those operating stationary steam engines as well as the chance to look around the Museum and speak to the volunteer team there.

The meeting will also include the ABTEM Annual General Meeting.

British Motor Museum Exhibitions Officer Vacancy – Closing date extended!

The closing date for this interesting vacancy has been extended until 26 October – details below:

Exhibitions Officer

(Part-time, 22.5 hours per week, fixed-term 18 months) 

Salary: £23,500 pro rata

In 2017, the British Motor Museum became part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio. The four-year programme funded by Arts Council will help widen the Museum’s audience through a range of activities working with communities and groups locally and regionally.

 

A key part of the programme will be the development and creation of innovative exhibition content at the British Motor Museum. This new Exhibitions Officer post will be an exciting opportunity to assist the Museum team in delivering a range of exhibition and audience content including, in particular, a new exhibition ‘The Car. The Future. Me’, due to open in June 2019.

The Museum is looking for an experienced museum professional who has worked on exhibition development and delivery. The role will include assisting in planning, procurement and project management as well as working with colleagues across the organisation, external partners and community groups to successfully deliver the exhibition.
